Here,

the other day,

while walking Lucy down along the Duwamish River

in the industrial part of south Seattle,

I came across this old fishing boat, the F/V Capelin.

She is 166 feet long, 32 feet wide and 12 feet deep,

at one time carrying a load of 499 tons of fish.

Owned at one time or another by: Mt. Vernon Seafoods,

Pelican Point Packers, and Blue North Fisheries,

she hasn’t been actively registered with the US Coastguard since 2004.

Now she floats rather forlorn looking,

windows knocked out

and probably waiting for the cutter’s torch

to send her to the scrap pile

to be recycled.
