In the small Whitman County town of Uniontown,
(population 313) in southeastern Washington,
a long unused old wooden storefront still
displays a tin advertising sign
for the soda pop, 7 UP.
In my mind,
I can hear this screen door making
that familiar squeaking sound from the spring loaded hinge
and then the ‘Bang!’
as it shut behind a thirsty child on a
hot summer afternoon.

I haven’t posted in quite a while,
and had promised myself I’d get out with my camera once a week after the new year passed,
but so far that hasn’t happened.
Hopefully soon,
health permitting.

That is an incredible shot. I love the peeled paint. Hope you are well Madge. Hugs B
Oh, no, it sounds like you’ver started the new year like I have. I had been sick since the new year began. I’m just now beginning to feel almost normal. That’s why I’ve used several pics from the past. I hope you will soon be feeling well again.
oops, typo-added an ‘r’ to you’ve!
Hi Madge. This is such a great shot and I’m glad you are managing to get out and about to find such treasures to share with us. Be well, my friend.
Wonderful shot. I do hope you are well enough to get out and enjoy your camera sights again soon!
So great to see you hear – hope your health improves so we can enjoy more of your photos – and you can enjoy taking them. Love the old 7-up sign.
Oh Madge! This is the type of photo I absolutely love!
It would be fun to hear a few stories from this storefront.
I like the weathered textures you captured.
Your image really resonates with me, touches a lot of memories. As a kid I worked as a laborer for one of the deliveryman for 7-Up and went in and out of little restaurants, bars, and gas stations in a good sized chunk of rural Illinois during the 60’s…Have a great day Madge.
