Pot Buoys as Bumpers – Weekly Top Shot #180

Fishing Boat Pot Buoys - Fishermens Terminal - Seattle WA

Bu·oy : bo͞oē : [noun] : an anchored float serving as a navigation mark, to show reefs or other hazards, marking crab pots and fishing nets, or for mooring.

One of my favorite ‘go to’ places in Seattle

is Fishermens Terminal in Ballard

on Salmon Bay.

There are always fishermen tending their boats,

or pots, or nets, or long lines.

I have yet to meet a fisherman

who wouldn’t take a few minutes to chat

and explain what they were doing or what a particular

piece of equipment is for.

Here,

I’ve shot down between two fishing boats

capturing the brightly colored pot buoys

used as dock bumpers

while berthed.
