Govan School – Weekly Top Shot #176

Govan Schoolhouse - Govan WA

School : sko͞ol : [noun] : an institution for educating children.

:  :  :

Here again this week,

we are looking at the old two-room schoolhouse in Govan WA

(in central eastern Washington).

:  :  :

I spent considerable time

trying to determine the style of design that was used constructing this old school,

and think I it might be Queen Anne.

If you know what style this is,

please tell me!

:  :  :

Looking up under this arched front above the double doorway,

you can still see bright bits of red and yellow paint

still clinging to the wood after nearly

75 years of disrepair.

  1. Great shot – I love the details in the building – they took so much more care in those days. I hope someone might come along and save this building – perhaps move it to another location and restore it. It deserves to be preserved.

  2. Madge,

I love the textures of the weathered wood and the colors too. Neat macro.

I’m sorry to hear that Washington is dry. We were getting pretty worried before the rain/snow we had last weekend. There are areas in eastern SD and in NE that are dry also. With warm weather on the horizon this moisture will do a lot of good. Now, we need to avoid a hard frost.

Thanks for dropping in at my blog, I appreciate it!
