Here,
at the now closed Silver Platters
in the Lower Queen Anne Hill neighborhood of Seattle,
a man with a rolling suitcase walks past the now shuttered front door
entrance to what was a thriving business.

As with a number of other casualties
of the advancement of technology (like bookstores for instance),
record stores are becoming a thing of the past.

Seattle has had a number of record stores
that supplied Seattleites with tunes to live life by.
But with the advent of Mp3 downloadeds (both legal and illegal)
and streaming radio services (like Pandora, Spotify,iTunes)
it has become very difficult for brick and mortar stores
to stay in business selling physical
copies of albums.

Even me,
when I’m going to be driving
for more than a few minutes or miles,
I tune in to Pandora and listen to my
‘George Strait’ station.
I still have stacks of cds,
but no longer listen to them and haven’t added
a new one to the collection
in a very long time.

I just say life moves ahead.
I’ve listened to too many voices complaining about those ‘good ol’ days’ and technology, and kids today and on, and on, wah, wah, wah, wah… Rather depressing if you ask me. Well, I do consider myself a ‘fiercely indepentdant’ bloke.
I remember record stores. They were always fun to browse through. I wish I still had my vinyl collection. But I do like the convenience of Pandora :)
