Pike Place Market - Looking Up the Ramp - Seattle WA

Ramp : ramp : [noun] : a slope or inclined plane for joining two different levels, as at the entrance or between floors of a building.

Here,

at Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market,

I am standing at the bottom of a ramp which connects

the level below the main arcade

and the arcade itself.

It is an interesting perspective of the Market

one doesn’t see much in photographs

if at all.

:  :  ;

The Market has been located

on this steep hillside between the edge of downtown Seattle

and the waterfront below for more than 100 years.

Built in bits and pieces,

it is a labyrinth of hallways,

oddly shaped shops, entrances, exits,

stairs and ramps.

  1. That’s a great perspective and wonderful description of the twists and turns of the shops there. One time we got lost in Seattle when we first moved to Washington. We wound up down by the Pike Place Market and started asking pedestrians if they could give us directions – and every one of them said – “I’m not from here, I’m a tourist”. We ended up driving around until we found an on-ramp for the freeway.
