A·muse : əˈmyo͞oz: [verb] : to cause (someone) to find something funny; to entertain.

Here,

at the Washington State Fair

in the Pierce County town of Puyallup,

a father and son prepare to be thrilled by one of the many brightly lit amusement rides.

The rides are a wonderful opportunity to take some very colorful

and interesting images of people at play.

On a darker note,

one sad era in the history of the fairgrounds,

it was used as an interment camp for over 7,000 Japanese Americans

from western Washington and Alaska during WWII

and was called ‘Camp Harmony.’

I recently found out that a childhood friend’s parents (both American citizens)

were incarcerated during WWII and met in one of these camps in Idaho.

Her father volunteered for military service during WWII

and served our country with honor.
