Wild Flowers in the Palouse - Along Sand Road - Whitman County WA

Wildflowers : wild·flow·er : wīldˌflou(-ə)r : [noun] : a flower of an uncultivated variety or a flower growing freely without human intervention.

along Sand Road,

south of Pullman WA,

a willow tree and purple wildflowers

draw thirstily from the steam beside the dirt road.

Beyond is the expanse of rolling wheat fields.

Nearly the only natural color

to be seen in the Palouse during late spring and early summer is green,

so these snippets of color

really popped.
