Edible or inedible? That is the question.
: : :
These wild peas
grow in abundance this time of year
in ditches and along road right-of-ways around western Washington.
: : :
I’ve read websites
that claim they are either toxic or edible,
but whether they are or not, they are beautiful.
: : :
They develop colors from pure white,
to pink, magenta and lavender.
Placed in a pretty vase or even an old mason jar,
they make a lovely bouquet for one’s table for a few days.
: : :
What about you,
do they grow in your area, and do you
ever eat them?

Although I never ate them, I wish they did grow here….beautiful!!!…:)JP
I have never seen them before… but they are very colourful. As for eating them, same with carrot leaves, I have read they are poisonous to humans (certainly not goats!) but then I have read it is ok for us to eat them.
Since I am on holiday in rural Australia at the moment I thought it the perfect opportunity to take part in your rural challenge for the first time:)
Stunning close up and color.
I love seeing them….they grow here, as well….the ones closest to my house are at the edge of the local/rural cemetery. I thought you might be interested in this article: http://honest-food.net/2013/08/22/the-myth-of-the-poison-pea/
These are beautiful flowers. Unfortunately, we don’t have these on the east side as far as I know. They have such great color.
no, I’ve never seen them, but edible or not, I’d love to have them growing in one of my containers! they are spectacular!
I’ll stick to green peas… maybe my favorite veggie. I do like the pink though.
Stunning macro shot with lush colors ~ Nope never eaten anything like it but know there are edible flowers ~ thanks, ^_^
