Wild Peas – Rurality Blog Hop #69

Wild Peas

Edible or inedible? That is the question.

:  :  :

These wild peas

grow in abundance this time of year

in ditches and along road right-of-ways around western Washington.

:  :  :

I’ve read websites

that claim they are either toxic or edible,

but whether they are or not, they are beautiful.

:  :  :

They develop colors from pure white,

to pink, magenta and lavender.

Placed in a pretty vase or even an old mason jar,

they make a lovely bouquet for one’s table for a few days.

:  :  :

What about you,

do they grow in your area, and do you

ever eat them?

  1. I have never seen them before… but they are very colourful. As for eating them, same with carrot leaves, I have read they are poisonous to humans (certainly not goats!) but then I have read it is ok for us to eat them.
Since I am on holiday in rural Australia at the moment I thought it the perfect opportunity to take part in your rural challenge for the first time:)
