Palouse Wheat Fields - Whitman County WA

Pa·louse : pəˈlo͞os [noun] The region of southeastern Washington and adjacent Idaho that has rolling hills on deep soils where wheat is grown in abundance.

:  :  :

Here,

early morning shows off some of the patchwork of fields

in a variety of shades of green.

:  :  :

From a distance,

the fields take on the appearance of velvet,

close up the growing wheat sways in the spring breeze

and causes a rustling sound

that ebbs and flows

like waves

on the

ocean.
