Dirt road: An unpaved road made from the native material of the land surface through which it passes, known to highway engineers as subgrade material.
: : :
Here,
in the undulating fertile hills of the Palouse,
the nation’s premier wheat growing region,
a dirt road hugs the hillsides as it snakes its way over and around
the wheat fields in early spring.
: : :
One of the things I like about the Palouse
is the feeling of isolation and peace while driving and photographing
its endless fields of wheat.
: : :
You can drive all day long
and almost never pass another vehicle,
it makes stopping and savoring a cold lunch
while sitting on my tailgate
a delight!

Oh, that is fantastic!
Love the hills! That is a great shot.
This is quite a photo! I love the depth. I makes me want to follow that road.
That is an amazing photo and a beautiful landscape. Farmers are getting busy.
amazing! I love the contrast of the green wheat with the dirt!
Nice colors, patterns and perspective, Madge.
Beautiful composition and scenery.
Madge, this is just terrific….so unique!!!!…:)JP
I really like the rolling hills.
Absolutely stunning – it is one of our favorite areas of the state also. It is so nice to wander about with almost no traffic and even stop in the middle of the road and take photos.
What a cool shot! It looks like you used a special lens to get the wonky effect!
Raw beauty! Nice photo :)
Eine ganz faszinierende Aufnahme !
Das Wellenmuster der Landschaft ist ein spezieller Effekt.
Liebe Grüße
Jutta
Slightly surreal landscape!
You certainly capture the feeling of the rolling hills. Well done!
What a road. I think I would want a “flagger” in front of me if I was the tractor driver.
What a great shot with the road winding itself through the pastures.
Beautiful, rolling hills.
OMG, what kind of landscape is this? And how can the tractor work the land? Image probably taken with a long lens, but still???
Oh I love this photo (although it sort of make you feel a bit seasick if you look at it long enough). I’ve been through the Palouse and just love the way the hills roll like that.
