While I realize
much of the midwest and east coast are still in the grip of winter,
here in the northwest, we’ve had several bright, sunny,
clear days with high temps in the 60s.
Although temps have dropped with a chance of snow this weekend.

Our yard work is well under way,
and today, my son will use his pickup to go to
Del’s Farm Supply in Auburn to get me three, 2’x2’x4′ aluminum stock tanks
to place on our back yard patio for additional garden space.
: : :
I also need to pick up some gravel and top soil to fill them.
My vegetable beds will receive some augmentation with perlite,
vermiculite and compost, and the seeds I ordered for the garden arrived weeks ago,
awaiting the last frost day for planting,
usually around the end of March.
: : :
All of that to say
I am looking forward
with anticipation
to spring.
: : :
Here,
a couple years ago,
I drove out to Fall City and shot along the Raging River,
catching a wild cherry tree’s thin twigs in fresh white bloom,
hanging over the river and the low water cascading
over and around the tumbled, smooth rocks
in its exposed bed.

First day of Spring 2014
is nineteen days
and
counting…

Wow! Madge ~ fantastic photo and I amazed you are planning on planting already ~ Here in MA we are still in the deep freeze but I did see some crocuses popping up ~ Happy Weekend to you ~ xxx
artmusedog and carol ^_^
Good evening, dear Madge,
Your photo is incredibly beautiful and very impressive.
Thanks for this inspiration and thanks for hosting this nice project.
Happy evening, Wieczora (◔‿◔)
Oh I really, REALLY like this image — I can imagine the sound of the water rushing over the rocks, and through the brook…and the sights and smells of outdoors and nature…goes hand in hand.
What an enchanting photo!
Gosh, our last frost days are in May!
Madge,
It’s well afternoon and we just got to zero degrees and we have over 4″ of new snow on the ground. We are very thankful the wind is not blowing.
Glad you are getting some spring like weather and happy garden planning. Gardening is in the back of my mind; I don’t think I need to be in a huge hurry.
That could be our river here at Coombe Mill, not often I see a similarity between your stunning urban photos and our farm.
Beautiful shot!
That is a beautiful nature shot.
Beautiful shot, Madge! There’s the prediction of an ice storm here tonight, so it’s hard to imagine spring is almost here.
You’re working on the garden!?!?!?! We’re still digging out from the last snowfall and expecting more tomorrow night and into Monday. In fact, there is so much snow piled up in some shopping mall parking lots, it’s hard to see around them. But now you have me thinking of what I want to add to the garden…I believe it will be some lavender, a butterfly bush, and more lilacs (love them!) Beautiful photo!!!
What a lovely picture – I’m anxious for spring too – but right now it is snowing again in Bellingham – we already have an inch and they say more tonight and tomorrow. Thankfully it won’t last long – warming up and rain next week – ahhh spring.
wow i do love that effect i will have to try that out if i find a stream
Hope Spring comes around your part of the world soon, Madge
We are expecting Autumn, Downunder, Madge and enjoying the last days of Summer.
Hi Madge, Such a beautiful spring photo … I see already some flowers on the branch! Your garden-plans sound so nice, I understand the great anticipation to get started sowing!
Beautiful anticipation.
What a gorgeous image Madge! Love the dreaminess of long exposures. Happy to hear it’s warming up for you. I’ve been sowing seeds for the last few days and it feels so good to have my hands in the dirt again :)
We would have to dig through snow to plant. :( I love the photo.
We are still under a blanket of snow here in Southwest Saskatchewan. But there is forecast for double digets next week. Hopefully spring will come soon!
Lovely shot!
xo Catherine
I’m excited too- can’t wait for warmer weather and glorious sunshine.
