Creeks and streams can be good photographic subjects.
: : :
The rich amber light
of late afternoon
drenches this rural scene along Clear Creek
east of the town of Colfax WA,
the seat of
Whitman county.
: : :
This little flow of water could
either be a creek (intermittent flow) or a stream (year-round flow),
I don’t know which.
All of the occasions I’ve traveled to the Palouse,
it has been flowing,
so I’m going to say it’s a stream.
: : :
At this late time of day,
the light was very warm and the reflections were deep and appealing,
perfect for a moment in time
to be captured
and
enjoyed
again and again.

Lovely photo.
I didn’t know that was the definition of ‘creek’ in N America – we have very few ‘creeks’ in the UK and those few are all tidal inlets. Seasonal streams, where they exist, are sometimes known as ‘winterbournes’, a beautifully poetic name.
Hi! Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.
Very beautiful light and reflections! You captured it perfectly! And a little off the topic – congratulations on your Superbowl win! I’m a little sad that football season is over, but enjoyed watching the Seahawks performance on Sunday – wow!
That is gorgeous, Madge. Didn’t know that about creek vs. stream. Learn something everyday!
Creeks do make for great photo opportunities, Madge. There are colors, varieties of lighting and little details to capture all in one area.
I snapped a few shots of the Muddy Creek when I was visiting my folks. Sometimes when I download my photos I see things I didn’t while taking the shot. That is fun!
Beautiful! And I love all the wildlife that are attracted to that environment.
The colors and reflections are wonderful in this photo!
I never know what to call them either- just creek or crick…stream always seemed a bit much. :) I love the reflections in your photo- very peaceful.
Very creative and colorful photo for Rural ~ thanks, Happy Week to you ~

Beautiful! We’ve had such droughts the last couple of years that I really miss running water.
The colors in the reflections are wonderful.
What a beautiful photo!
This is absolutely beautiful! Just what I need after a day full of ice and rain and a ‘state of emergency’ here in NJ.
Beautiful reflection.
Thats an awesome photo! Like the colors…
I love the reflections – and the definitions – I had no idea. Great photo.
What a lovely photo! I really like the golds and greens! :)
A warm, welcome feel to this place, Madge!…:)JP
It’s beautiful. Oh to be seeing some sunlight today instead of the snow coming down.
Beautiful!
