Against the Wind – Weekly Top Shot #118

Against the Wind - Puget Sound - WA

Fishing can be pleasant or miserable, depending upon the weather.

:  :  :

Here,

just off Vashon Island in Tramp Harbor,

three men dressed warmly against the cold, buffeting wind,

struggle to fish on a stormy, gray

afternoon.

:  :  :

I really liked this scene,

the drama of the sky,

the choppy ultramarine blue waves on Puget Sound

and the flash of sunlight off the white hull of their small boat.

This image was taken about a year ago.

Today’s weather is cold, dreary, gray and mostly foggy

due to a temperature inversion which has become stagnant over much of western Washington.

For those of you who came by for Rurality Blog Hop,

you’ll be happy to know that I DID take my camera out today,

but the light was flat

and I ended up not taking any images,

perhaps tomorrow

will be more suitable

for photography.

  1. It really does look like rough weather. Better than than me!!

Madge…I know exactly what you mean. I have gone out too many times to take photos this winter only to be greeted with flat light. When time is limited it’s frustrating.

Today’s photos were taken in my yard when it was in the double digits….below zero…with a new camera. They aren’t my best….but I do love the textures.

Hope your weekend is filled with the extraordinary.

  2. You know that saying…a bad day fishing is better than a good day a work? Well, I have to disagree. A bad day fishing is really a bad day fishing…LOL I love fishing but the weather just has to be good. Love this beautiful shot!!!
