English Walnuts

BAKE: /bāk/ [verb] : to cook (food) by dry heat without direct exposure to a flame, typically in an oven or on a hot surface.

I’ve been doing quite a bit a baking the last few weeks,

an activity that I enjoy doing a lot.

I love the variety of goods one can bake,

one of my favorites is quick and oh so good

…scones!

A friend at church

gave me a sourdough starter a couple weeks ago,

and I’ve even made the starter into some of my scones,

just decreasing the cream and baking powder,

but adding a bit more sugar (to offset the slight sour ‘bite’)

and a teaspoon of baking soda.

Walnuts

are a go to choice for additions to my scones and quick breads.

Here,

I placed a couple of English Walnuts

upon a piece of velvet for a close up glamor shot.

Off to the asthma doctor all day today

and tomorrow

for a ‘rapid desensitization’

of allergy shots.

  1. This photo takes me back. My grandfather LOVED walnuts and always had some on the table next to his favorite chair in his later years, along with a nut pick to get every bit of meat out of the shell. Thanks for the memory. xox
