Jelly Belly - Candies

Candy, some people have a ‘sweet tooth,’ some do not.

:  :  :

Here,

is a macro shot of some colorful Jelly Bellys,

perhaps my favorite candies,

and truth be told,

I like most

candy.

:  :  :

There are two candies

I detest,

they are life long exceptions,

to liking most candy,

they are

black liquorice and

cream filled chocolates.

:  :  :

I don’t have a constant craving for candy,

but once in a while nothing else will do.

except to have some,

and enjoy it

thoroughly,

without

regret.

:  :  :

I’ve been known

to head to the kitchen

and try NOT to eat candy,

so I have crackers and cheese

an apple,

perhaps some chips and dip,

and then finally,

I cave in

and eat the candy

anyway.

:  :  :

If I had eaten the candy to begin with

I could have saved

about 500 extra calories

consumed

out of

avoidance

measures.

Today, is ‘Random 5 Friday‘ over at my friend Nancy’s Place, ‘A Rural Journal,’

where participants list five random facts about themselves.

Here are mine for today:

(1) You’ve already discovered I detest liquorice and cream filled chocolates.

(2) I bought 20 yards of burlap, to make some valances for a couple rooms in my house,

I’ve never bought a whole bolt of fabric before ($3.99/yd and 40% off).

(3) I’m finally off anti-coagulants, but remnants of all six clots remain.

(4) My asthma is really bad, I’m on Prednisone and I can’t sleep, but boy I sure can eat!

(5) I’ve been watching the new series on PBS’ Masterpiece Theater on Sunday nights

called ‘The Paradise,’ I’m really enjoying it, somewhat like ‘Downton Abbey.’

See you

tomorrow for

Weekly Top Shot #109.

  1. Great photograph of the Jelly bellies. When you said there was some candy you detest, I was sure it would be anything with coconut in it, because that’s about the only candy I detest. I love chocolate creams, and I even like black licorice. Oh well. We can still be friends. We could even share a box of assorted chocolates.

  2. Madge,

Those candy cravings can be tough. I love the macro shot, very colorful!

Prayers to you and your health. Hope you can get things figured out soon.

I did a crafty project with burlap too. I took a 1.5″ wide piece of burlap and glued it on a mason jar. I layered ribbon and/or raffia over the burlap as a accent. Simple, pretty and decorative.

Hope your weekend is wonderful. Puppy pictures for Top Shot tomorrow.

  3. I had to laugh at what you ate to avoid candy…then ended up eating the candy anyway. I do that. Black licorice is my hubby’s favorite. Old and chewy, is how he likes it. Not my favorite, but I can eat it.

We are watching Paradise, too…missed the first episode. We watch almost all Masterpiece shows that come on. And some others besides. Have you watched the series Foyle’s War…it is a mystery. The name Foyle’s War put me off it, then I happened to come across it and did not know what I was watching…ends up it is one of our very favorite series. Did you watch Call the Midwife? There are so many good shows on PBS…

    1. I did watch ‘Call the Midwife,’ very good… and like you ‘Foyles War,’ title always put me off too… next time it re-runs I’ll watch it. I do love Masterpiece. Oh I watched and love ‘Inspector Morse,’ when John Thaw died they changed the series to ‘Inspector Lewis,’ Morse’s sidekick now promoted to title of Inspector… actually, I like most of the TV that we see from Britain… my all time fave was ‘All Creatures Great and Small,’ I can just about lip-sync to the shows, read all the books and was saddened when the real James Herriot died, sadder still, the real Siegfried was widowed late in life, asked James’ son if he could move back into the upstairs of Skeldale House, and then took his life there… very, very sad.

  4. Laura

Oh! I do hope you post pictures of how the burlap window treatments turn out. And if that show you mention is anything like Downton Abbey I’ll be tuned in as well. Have a great weekend :)

  5. I can take or leave jelly beans, but I don’t like licorice. Now chocolate is another things I laughed at the way you try to avoid candy by eating all those other things and end up eating candy anyway, because I do the same thing!

  6. It’s dark chocolate covered raisins for me. I keep them in the freezer and often try to hide them but they call out to me and I’m a goner. And I do exactly what you do…snack on other things and finally give in when I should have gone withg the obvious in the first place. Love this photo and now I’m off to the freezer…I hear those raisins calling me.
