Leaf Blower - Burien Parks Department - Burien WA

It’s all in a day’s work.

:  :  :

Here,

in the town of Burien,

a Parks Department employee uses an industrial leaf blower

to push fallen maple leaves into a huge pile

for clean-up.

:  :  :

As I was driving by,

the sun was behind this fellow and the leaves were soaring into the air

and drifting back to the ground,

while the light lit the leaves as though from the inside.

:  :  :

I parked,

walked into the park,

spoke with him and asked if it would be okay if I took a few pictures

while he worked.

:  :  :

I explained how beautiful the leaves were as they bounced around

in the light as the blower made them dance.

He offered to make a few extra passes

so I could get a couple shots.

He was very nice

and I was delighted with the results of his kindness.

:  :  :

The fall colors are about gone here in Seattle.

Tomorrow another storm front will come through,

with heavy rain and wind,

they should deliver a one-two punch

that will down the rest of the leaves

grasping

for their last

autumnal

hurrah.

  1. This is a fabulous shot and I love your description. I haven’t been able to get out to photograph but I truly appreciate those colors on the way to work. They make the drive a lot more bearable. And the autumn sun is the best lighting you can get. Hope all is well with you. I know you are loving your new status!!!

  2. Oh and Madge, I invite you to participate in this year’s 5th Annual Gratitude (word) Quilt. Instructions and a link that explains the origins of this project can be found at the top of my blog. In past years there have been participants from every continent except for Antarctica. I hope you’ll join us:-)

  3. You are so outgoing… at least I imagine so… I would never think to approach this chap to ask if I could take his photo. I guess that’s what separates the real photographers from someone like me. :) Great shot Madge!
