Thermometers on Shop Building in LaCrosse WA

If one thermometer is good, is more better??

:  :  :

Here,

on a corrugated metal Quonset hut type shop building in Lacrosse WA,

I spotted these five thermometers.

Is more better?

In this case, no.

One reads ‘0,’ one reads ’59,’ another reads about ’52,’

yet another reads ’48’ and the last reads ’58.’

Take your pick, don’t like 59,

and you think it is cooler if you call it 48, it’s up to you!

I’m over in the Palouse for a couple days before work starts next Monday

and school on September 4.

I’ve gotten some shots of the wheat harvest,

but most of the region has already been harvested.

I left Sunday night about 21:45,

stopped to get a latte before getting on the freeway.

While stopped in traffic waiting for a draw bridge to close,

I was rear ended by another car.

My car isn’t terribly damaged,

and I only seem to have a sprained finger (weird huh?).

I got out to look at my car,

she got out of her car (a Mini Cooper), she says ‘Are we good?’

I said ‘No, I have damage, we need to pull over and exchange information.’

She gets back in her car, turns off the headlights and bolts the scene.

I call 911, and proceed off the draw bridge to meet the Washington State Patrol to make a statement.

Fortunately, I got her license plate number.

The patrolman took my statement and then went to her house

and called me about an hour later.

He said she said ‘she couldn’t remember hitting anyone,’

‘I don’t have insurance,’ and ‘no, you cannot look at my car.’

There it is, the reason she ran.

But hit and run is a serious traffic offense, so is not having insurance.

My insurance company said they’ll call me after I get back

to start the repair process.

  1. I am glad that you are okay. Getting in car accident is scary enough without the person bolting. As far as the photo I love those old corporate thermometers. I remember when you would all kinds of free “junk” for shopping at certain businesses. Now they are worth a lot of money in antique stores.

  2. Good grief. I am thinking that you must be as tired of folks who will not step up and take responsibility for their actions (or inaction) as I am. So glad that you don’t have whiplash neck, honey. Love the thermometers!

  3. Love the thermometers. Funny that they’re all different. Guess it’s just having the collection and not accuracy, that counts.

Sorry about the hit and run. Glad you weren’t hurt. Some people just won’t take responsibility for their actions.
Hope it all works out for you.
