Balloons – just for you!
: : :
Here,
after having walked the Pike Place Market for three hours,
watching and ‘shooting’ all the daily setup activities of the vendors,
I was just about ready to call it a day
and head home.
: : :
Walking back towards my car,
I spotted this fellow
decked out in balloons sitting on the corner of Pine Street and Pike Place.
He looks a bit forlorn and very tired,
even though his day has just begun.
: : :
I got off a shot or two,
he then picked up his stool and supplies
and began walking along Pike Place, under the covered walkway.
I got off several more shots of him,
but never really got ‘the’ shot I wanted.
I had to settle for this one,
the best of the bunch.
: : :
Does that happen to you too?
You’ve got a great subject,
but before you can get the capture you want
they’re off and running,
so are you and that’s
the rest
of
the
story!
: : :
For any of you following my work injury last October and subsequent surgery and recovery,
you’ll be as pleased as I am,
I passed my return to work skills test yesterday.
It’s back to work baby!
Woot!

poor guy looks glum. or maybe he’s just beat from a long day.
congratulations, madge!
Great shot – love the colors and the personality. Glad you are doing well & ready to go back to work!
My first thought was that he was tired or a little ill.
Love his balloon hat!
So glad to hear you’ve recovered so well! Have a safe school year!
Congrats on passing- I’m happy that you are well and able to go back to work!
Glad to hear you passed your RTW skills test!
Your balloon man reminds me a little of the “Freddie the Freeloader” character. (Red Skelton). I think it’s a fabulous shot, even if it’s not exactly what you were trying to capture.
Red Skelton was a master at comedy (and not the dirty kind either)… I loved his work !
Congrats on healing and returning to work ~ This photo is fantastic! you always have great shots ~ Yes, there plenty of times when I don’t quite get the shot I want ~ happy weekend to you ~ carol, xo
What a fabulous shot! So happy you are recovering and well enough to head back to work!
When shooting people and insects/animals this is often a problem. Even flowers and sunsets can have a short window in time for the just right light. I like your shot, you have captured his tiredness well.
He does look a bit sad — a definite liability in his field. :)
ps: Yay! xo
Yes I know exactly what you mean and it’s really frustrating when it happens. I think you captured the moment well though.
Thanks for hosting.
I am so glad to hear that you are all better and going back to work!! Yay!!
Does that ever happen to me? Just all the time. Frustrating, isn’t it?
Hey, congratulations on getting the OK to return to work. I am happy for you.
I thought of you when we drove past the bus shed for Bellingham schools today – so glad to hear you’ve passed the test!!!!
Interesting photo – a bit of sadness to it – and lots of color for contrast.
I really like “balloon” man,you captured a sense of sadness yet a plug to keep going forward,thank-you for sharing.
Glad that you are better to go back to work, phyllis
I would wear that hat to work!
Hi! Nice shot. Thank you for hosting.
Love his hat! We needed him for my son’s birthday party last week.
It seems his lovely balloons are celebrating your recovery:)
Great pic… I can’t think of what “the” shot you wanted would have been like!
Gee, I think buainess would be a but better for him if he tried smiling. ;)
Wonderful photo!
Poor Balloon man. Doesn’t look that happy with his lot really… :/
love the shot, made me smile!
Wonderful shot, Madge. I like it very much.
What a fabulous photo! I love it. xx
I was very glad to hear you are back to work. YEAH for you!
You’re so right, Madge, that this happens to all of us, the disappearance of the shot or the inability to get the shot. If I dwelled on it, I’d be sick at my stomach at least several times a week. So, I choose not to dwell on it, instead being vigilant as I go through life, thinking how blessed I am to be able to even look around and see what might be the next shot I shall strive to get. Thanks for yours today which got me to thinking.
Nice picture you show of this creative work on street.
Il love this balloons.
xoxo, Wieczora (◔‿◔)
The colorful balloon animals are such a contrast the the man’s seemingly sad and hopeless appearance. It’s a great shot that can pique one’s interest in the story behind it.
Great news, Madge! Healed up, approved and ready for work. Good Luck with the new school year.
Forlorn is a good word to describe his demeanor. I hope he perked up and felt better afterwards. You got a great shot!
Congrats on the good health news!
