Barns, the ever present fixture in rural areas.

Here,
near the Indiana town of Shipshewana
is a classic barn with a carpet of green corn in the field next to it.

This image was take some years back
when I drove (by myself) from Seattle to Sparta NC to visit family.
It was a 6,555 mile journey across America,
I loved doing it
and would do it again in a heart beat!

the green field really sets off the white barn. :)
beautiful summery scene!
Beautiful! And what a journey to take on your own- you go girl!
This is a fine looking barn with a silo to attract the viewer’s attention. Nice one.
A very iconic image
I love to see barns and you always capture them so brilliantly.
I love barns. It is a good thing since we have so many around these rural parts!
That white really make the barn stand out.
Nice barn, and it looks great with all that corn!
Pretty barn! The corn looks good in front of it. You are a brave woman to drive that far alone. But then, I’d do it myself if I could. I think the Mr. might object. Haha! Mainly because he knows I couldn’t change a tire if I had to. It would be my luck to have a flat tire where I couldn’t reach anyone to help me.
Beautiful barn.
That must have been some trip! I have been to Shipshewana….love that area up there…it is about 4 or 5 hours north of us.
BTW, like the shot.
When I saw the title of your post, I couldn’t believe it–I used to go to our Baptist church camp in (or near) Shipshewana in the summer!!! Gosh, that was about 50 years ago. What lovely memories you brought to mind!
Lovely barn.
Yes, ther’s some charm here. But the everyday upkeep is a killer for family farms.
