Vertigo Building – Weekly Top Shot #86

Vertigo Building Night -SODO District - Seattle WA

Night scenes with brightly lit neon creates a colorful image.

Here in the SODO District

(south of downtown) of Seattle, is the Vertigo Building.

The neon sign with a giant blue arrow

keeps the likeness of actor Jimmy Stewart from ‘falling’ to the sidewalk below.

‘Vertigo’ was a movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock

as a psychological thriller in 1958.

Again we’re looking at neon at night.

What is it about the bright glass tubes filled with various gases that is so appealing?

The glitz? The reflections? The rich colors?

The beckoning appeal to come see what’s inside the business doors?

Yes, all of these.

I haven’t been posting a lot lately.

My focus and energy has been on doing more, and getting stronger.

This school year ends next Thursday, June 13.

I must be ready to take a physical skills test by mid-August,

to be able to return to work for the new school year on September 4.

I was out with my daughter yesterday

and I happened to drive past the middle school I’ve transported students for this year.

I saw ‘my’ bus, #101, a 40 foot transit style 78 passenger bus.

Instantly, I was longing to be there,

greeting students and

driving them home.

  1. I love your shots of the neon signs. I do hope you are strong enough for your physical skills test in August as it must have been heart wrenching to see your bus. Have a wonderful weekend. Chel x

  2. Cool photo, Madge!
Our rural school bus drivers have been some very special people in our lives. Growing up, I had just two different bus drivers, one K-3rd. The other 4-12th grade.
Our kids have had the same bus driver, Wendy, all of their years.. we sure appreciate her getting them to school & home safely each day of the year, snow, mud, and all! Years ago, Wendy had lymphoma, and our kids were so excited when she returned.
I hope all goes well so that you are good to go come September!

  3. Hi Madge, I’m happy to hear from you & hope that that you’re getting stronger and feeling better little by Little – so that you’re gonna be back with your students soon! Your Pink Neon shot is really cool!

  4. I know you’ll be behind the wheel before you know it! And I can truly relate…my desk is my home away from home, it is my ‘space,’ my comfort zone and God help the person who rearranges it…LOL
You have some fantastic store fronts…I want to go in each and every one of them!
