Mellow Yellow Barn

Yellow Barn Near Colfax WA - In the Palouse

Barns, usually the largest, most often used structure seen on a farmstead.

:  :  :

These days barns are often metal structures,

which are probably cheaper to erect and keep up than the traditional wood varieties in classic shapes

that most of us are used to seeing scattered around rural areas.

Here in the Palouse,

the premier wheat growing region of southeastern Washington and western Idaho,

is a classically shaped yellow barn.

Most of the barns around the Palouse are painted red.

In fact,

I’ve never been in any other rural region where so many of the barns are red.

So seeing a yellow barn is unusual.

I haven’t shared over at my friend Tricia’s place ‘Bluff Area Daily,’ for ‘Barn Charm,’ in a long time.

Stop by if you’d like to see some barn shots from around the country.
