Barns, usually the largest, most often used structure seen on a farmstead.
: : :
These days barns are often metal structures,
which are probably cheaper to erect and keep up than the traditional wood varieties in classic shapes
that most of us are used to seeing scattered around rural areas.
: : :
Here in the Palouse,
the premier wheat growing region of southeastern Washington and western Idaho,
is a classically shaped yellow barn.
Most of the barns around the Palouse are painted red.
In fact,
I’ve never been in any other rural region where so many of the barns are red.
So seeing a yellow barn is unusual.

I haven’t shared over at my friend Tricia’s place ‘Bluff Area Daily,’ for ‘Barn Charm,’ in a long time.
Stop by if you’d like to see some barn shots from around the country.

That’s a cool old barn- nice capture!
nice roof on that old wood. :)
Super!
What a beauty! Brown or red is generally what you find around here. Loving that creamy, soft yellow.
Hope you are healing up well.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a yellow barn around here. It’s a beauty. I love the lighting here and the fields in the background.
We don’t see many yellow barns around here either…I like this one.
That new roof on the barn is the best insurance against the barn caving in. So glad to see it. Lovely shot. Hope the barn stands many more years!
Stunning shot of not only the character of the Barn, but the silo and rolling farmland-
Jemma
Beautiful.
love the yellow!
Yellow is a rare barn colour. This one is quite nice and should stand a long time with it’s steel roof. I could use a paint job though. :) Pamela
love the distressed look that comes with true age … personally i avoid mirrors for just that reason … ;)
A fine barn shot. I too have seen very few barns in other than red paint. I like this barn for its setting and the rolling country behind.
That barn looks very nice in yellow! :)
Magnificent shot of a beautiful barn ~ Wonderful! ^_^
Haven’t stopped by in awhile. I always love your view of the world where you live and I love barn photos. The soft yellow really makes this one a winner!!
Quite charming!
That’s a great shot of a beautiful old barn, perfect perspective.
I’m following you on twitter… =)
