Remote Control

Union Pacific Rail Yard Sign - Lucille Street in Georgetown WA

Dangerous but useful, remote controlled locomotives move rail cars in the Union Pacific Railroad yard in the SODO District of Seattle.

Fewer employees are needed to switch rail cars these days then in times past.

The engineer wears a small pack that is suspended by a thick lanyard around the neck

and rests on his chest, that has all the switches for controlling the engine by remote.

Here, in the Georgetown neighborhood of south of downtown Seattle,

a brilliant fluorescent yellow sign warns vehicles

and pedestrians traversing east/west on South Lucille Street that

there are railroad locomotives in the area that are remote controlled.

I searched for an image to post today to let everyone know that I’ll be offline for a few days.

Being remote controlled seemed a good match.

My blog will be remote controlled so to speak for a few days while I have my surgery tomorrow morning.

We arrive at the hospital at 05:30 and surgery is scheduled to begin at 07:30.

I’ll be spending one, possibly two nights in the hospital.

I am hopeful that all will go well and I am praying to that end,

for the Lord’s guiding the skilled hands of my surgeon

and for a smooth procedure,

pain control

and healing.

See you all in a few days.
