Walking in the rain, an inevitable event for pedestrians in Seattle.
: : :
Interesting,
but as soon as the words ‘walking in the rain’ began to unfold in my mind,
the music from the the 1952 musical movie with Gene Kelly starts its lovely lilt as well, ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’
: : :
Here, in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle
a pair of young ladies walk a small Yorkie mix dog in the rain with large matching oversize white and orange umbrellas.
: : :
While this image is out of focus (taken on the fly, in my car, waiting at a red light), I liked it.
So I did just a bit of sharpening and then applied a vintage film grain to give it a different visual sensation.
: : :
Do you walk in the rain?
I love the fresh feel of the air when it rains, but I’m not an umbrella ‘kinda’ girl,
just give me some gortex and a hat or hood and I’m good to go.
: : :
What about you,
umbrella,
or not?

I love to walk in the rain, as long as it isn’t too cold and I’m appropriately dressed… I don’t like that icky wet jeans feeling…but if I have my camera in my hand, that changes everything… I forget I am wet and listen and look and forget discomfort, enter the beauty instead.
oh, forgot to say, I love your photo!
I immediately thought of that song, too. :) Fun shot! Hope y’all have a wonderful Easter, Madge!
Divine action shot ~ ^_^
Gortex for me ~ freedom
Me? An umbrella? What do you think girlfriend? :)
Walking in the rain is fun, especially with a fun umbrella.
I LOVE that the photo is blurry! Gives it movement and looks so artistic. Amazing you snapped it from your car.
Hi! The song of Walking in the rain was very famous in Japan too.
Nice capture!
Thank you for hosting.
Yep, rain person here too. Most PNW people I know do not even own an umbrella.
Bumbershoots are just for naming festivals, aren’t they?
Love your capture in Belltown, Madge!
I’m a definite brolly carrier. But we haven’t had rain yet – just snow so far this year!
Always love the shots that you capture madge! Hope you are feeling better.
No umbrella – rain feels good on my head. When we were in Seattle at the Crowne Plaza – on the 15th floor – I got some fabulous umbrella shots from above – it was fun. Love your shot – gives the idea they are hurrying along in the rain.
Madge,
I love the rain, I love to be cozy in my house with lights aglow. The smell of rain…oh it is so close to heaven!
You so captured the way rain “feel,” to me when I am scurrying from one spot to another!
Thank you for hosting!
Hugs!
Jemma
Great photo!
Happy Easter to you!
Rain is in short supply here in the desert, but when some falls, I love to walk in it. Happy Easter.
Cool shot! I like umbrellas but usually have my hands too full to use one. So, I end up using a hood. Spring rains are always inevitable!
i detest umbrellas. don’t mind rain as i have very short hair and wear no makeup. :)
Not much of an umbrella person myself. Great shot.
Beautiful shot, makes me want to take a walk in the rain :) Thanks for hosting …
LOVE this shot! What great umbrellas!
great streetphotography, perfectly seen!
wish you a very Happy Easter, Magde !!
warm hugs from
veredit
Nicely blurred!
I think it’s fun walking in the rain with the sound of the drops hitting it. The song – Singing in the rain will be in my head the rest of the day.
Happy Easter
betsy
Happy Easter, Madge! Hope you have a joyous weekend.
It is a lovely shot…depends on how hard the downpour is…Happy Easter♥
No umbrella here… when we get rain in S CA, especially in the desert areas, it’s more of a celebration! Happy Easter
As soon as I saw your subject title, the tune popped into my brain! I love your image! poor doggie, no umbrella for him or her!
May your Easter be peaceful and less pain. <3
I like this shot. Sometimes blurred is a good thing! ;) When I lived in Colorado I always used an umbrella no matter if it was just a few sprinkles. Now that I live back East in a climate where it rains a lot more I usually don’t bother with an umbrella (just put a hood up over my head) unless it’s a true deluge!
Love those big umbrellas! Beautiful rainy day shot ;)
If I had an umbrella like that I would definitely walk in the rain more. I am always without mine when it starts :/
When we were looking for a place to move, Hubby asked me if Seattle would be too cloudy and wet for me. Ummm, yes, my dear, was my reply. LOL So much rain. Love the umbrella photo!
Happy Easter to you Madge. Lovely umbrellas there, rather keep our sunshine this week though, our new born lambs really don’t like the rain!
Nice shot!
Love that little Yorkie paddling along underfoot Madge … sometimes it pays to have our camera at the ready even when driving …. who knows what we might capture while waiting at a stop light.
Your vintage overlay gives this pic a lovely effect. Brava!
Pretty capture!
Wonderful drive-by shot. I love their bright umbrellas. Poor doggie was probably soaked by the time they reached their destination. =(
That would have been perfect for theme day.
Those colorful umbrellas make walking in the rain a little more fun! Have a nice weekend, Madge! :)
Great photo, Madge. Thanks for hosting.
Sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope that your treatment is a great success and that you are back to full health ASAP!
Thanks Nick, for your kind thoughts. Me too, hope this surgery does the trick! :-)
i love photos like that …
Love the movement!
