Walking in the Rain – Weekly Top Shot #76

Walking in the Rain - Belltown Neighborhood - Seattle WA

Walking in the rain, an inevitable event for pedestrians in Seattle.

Interesting,

but as soon as the words ‘walking in the rain’ began to unfold in my mind,

the music from the the 1952 musical movie with Gene Kelly starts its lovely lilt as well, ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’

Here, in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle

a pair of young ladies walk a small Yorkie mix dog in the rain with large matching oversize white and orange umbrellas.

While this image is out of focus (taken on the fly, in my car, waiting at a red light), I liked it.

So I did just a bit of sharpening and then applied a vintage film grain to give it a different visual sensation.

Do you walk in the rain?

I love the fresh feel of the air when it rains, but I’m not an umbrella ‘kinda’ girl,

just give me some gortex and a hat or hood and I’m good to go.

What about you,

umbrella,

or not?

  1. I love to walk in the rain, as long as it isn’t too cold and I’m appropriately dressed… I don’t like that icky wet jeans feeling…but if I have my camera in my hand, that changes everything… I forget I am wet and listen and look and forget discomfort, enter the beauty instead.

  2. No umbrella – rain feels good on my head. When we were in Seattle at the Crowne Plaza – on the 15th floor – I got some fabulous umbrella shots from above – it was fun. Love your shot – gives the idea they are hurrying along in the rain.

  3. Madge,

I love the rain, I love to be cozy in my house with lights aglow. The smell of rain…oh it is so close to heaven!
You so captured the way rain “feel,” to me when I am scurrying from one spot to another!

    Thank you for hosting!
    Hugs!

  4. I like this shot. Sometimes blurred is a good thing! ;) When I lived in Colorado I always used an umbrella no matter if it was just a few sprinkles. Now that I live back East in a climate where it rains a lot more I usually don’t bother with an umbrella (just put a hood up over my head) unless it’s a true deluge!

  5. Love that little Yorkie paddling along underfoot Madge … sometimes it pays to have our camera at the ready even when driving …. who knows what we might capture while waiting at a stop light.
Your vintage overlay gives this pic a lovely effect. Brava!
